Say “Hello” to You Tube user sillysparrowness– who I was completely unaware of until just last week… When I saw the video posted below. A video of her building her own Tardis. From scratch. With no professional guidance… At all.
I can imagine she (probably) just thought, “Hey! I want to build my own Tardis. I think I’ll just go ahead and do that.”
And, well… She did.
Thankfully, sillysparrowness decided to document the construction of her Whovian Time Machine– because the video is really fucking awesome and highly entertaining.
I’ve been finding it difficult to write about how great this vid is without somewhat embarrassing myself by just typing a series of superlatives. Now I realize that’s completely impossible. From her dry humor to her witty sarcasm and her fun self-deprecation to her impressive comedic timing (and the excellent choices for occasional background music)– I liked everything about this How-to-Build-a-Tardis visual manual.
Around 99% of the things I find on You Tube are either too terribly embarrassing for me to watch or they make me weep for the future of mankind. Sillysparrowness‘ vid made me feel neither. Throughout “I Built a Tardis”, her love for Doctor Who feels completely genuine… And, at the end of a long day– her video fan letter to the Doctor made me smile.
And when you think about it, that’s not such a bad thing at all.

I want to marry her and live with her in that TARDIS.
Thank you so much for that blog post! I think, of all the things written about me in the last few days, this is by far my favourite. All those compliments – and you chose the picture with the chicken… Maro (that’s her name) says hello.
You are very welcome. Thank you for making such an entertaining and enjoyable video. It really is the best thing I have seen on the internet in quite a while.
The internet through Blogs, Video blogs, Facebook, Google+ and other social sites have brought the world so much closer. I have met so many interesting people from around the world, but none as interesting as “sillysparrowness”. An educator, communicator in four languages, and entertaining, I am glad to have met her.
