On Tuesday January 4th, 2011 Stan (The Man) Lee received a much-deserved Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard.
On the same day, Rob (Ex-Penciler of The Infinite) Liefeld tweeted the following poisonous message:
“Hopefully the Ghost of Jack Kirby will show up today and kick Stan’s sorry ass as he gets his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
Wishing VIOLENCE, even IMAGINARY violence, on anyone– let alone an Octogenarian— is never classy, Rob.
On Wednesday February 1, 2012, Hawk & Dove #6 will be released to comic shops worldwide… With one of the most completely generic, soulless drawings of Batman ever committed to paper– let alone released by DC Comics. Take a good look at the image, Liefeld’s Batman could be any character from any comic. Take away the pointy ears, redraw the cape and change the chest logo– and Voila! You might as well be looking at Hawk in a dark grey costume.
Which leads me to wonder if the Ghost of Bob Kane will be showing up Wednesday to kick Rob’s sorry ass.
Just my opinion and thoughts, of course– but you can click HERE to see I’m not the only one that was outraged by Liefeld’s shitty remark.
The Good News? Stan, of course, seemed to have cared less about the controversy… If he even knew about it all. In fact, he really seemed to enjoy his special moment.
Hilariously (at least to me), another Image Comics co-founder, Todd McFarlane, understood perfectly the debt he owed to The Man that day:
