Does anyone actually read those Crossed books? Are they as shit as they look?
And that is a sweet Dan DeCarlo cover on Life with Archie, its a pity that Archie screwed him even worse than Kirby got screwed by Marvel.
Sadly, I’ll admit to having read a few of the Crossed collections. The first, written/created by Garth Ennis, was typical Garth being way over the top because he can be. The later ones, by David Lapham, read like he found a list of the top 1000 depraved things you can do to a human (or a human corpse) and he’s slowly but surely been ticking them off the list with each subsequent issue.
Curiously, reading them have not caused me to 1) Want to rape anything– including a corpse or 2) Stick my dick into anything with mechanical moving parts (like a whirring lawn mower)… Which guys infected with the Crossed-virus like to do… A lot.
Guess that blows Frederic Wertham’s theory all to hell.
In all seriousness, I stopped reading them because 1) Only the first volume by Ennis didn’t force me to go take a cleansing shower after finishing it, 2) I’m never going to be able to resell them on eBay to make ca$h for my friend (that seems like an INSTANT lawsuit or jail sentence or being thrown off eBay) and finally, 3) I could never in good conscience give them away to anybody either… Let alone a library or a charity. (Which I think, again, would lead to an arrest.)
I’m sure as hell not enjoying them… And really, 3 was at least 2 1/2 too many to get the gist of where this shit is going– and will continue to go.
Per Dan DeCarlo… That sounds like another interesting column you should write.
I just might do that sometime
The two “Revival” covers are my favourites this week. I swear I buy more books by Image than any other publisher. Significantly more. The Sean Phillips Walking Dead cover is pretty amazing too.
That Deathstroke cover is dreadful though, typical Liefeld. Lobo looks like he’s about to take a dump on Deathstroke. :/
Denouette:
With Liefeld, the difference between “looks like” and “actually is” might be the exact same thing.
