We are giving away a few A Comic Book Look T Shirts. Here is a Flyer Jon made.

My favorite moment in comics has to be in “batman under the hood volume 2″. It’s when jason todd is torturing joker and after words jason tells joker a secret that he knows about him. The secret in jason’s own words is “You’re not nearly as crazy as you’d like us all to believe. Or even as crazy as you’d like to believe. It just makes it easier to justify every sick, monstrous thing you ever done when you play the part of the mad clown… You’re crazy, but you ain’t THAT crazy. Look at that I wiped a smile off the jokers face. I have been waiting a Looooong time for that.” Jason walks away laughing his head off and joker is sad because he knows it’s true. Even batman himself can never say he put joker in his place. After reading under the hood I was definitely a dc oriented kind of guy. I was a little disappointed after the animated film but it was still the best animated film to come from dc so far.
You guys know I don’t read comics, but I like watching your show!!
While I did like and enjoy the movie, I did have some problems with the movie. I can also say that this movie was not made for teens because my dad loved it. We are both huge Spider-Man fans and we ended up liking the movie.
I’ll post a larger comment once I get back from something I have to do. Gotta get some practice driving in today. Yeah… I’m kind of behind on the whole driving experience… don’t have my license yet. Just my permit….
So which was better? Ghost Rider: SOV or Amazing Spider-Man? Keep in mind…I LOVED Spirit of Vengeance.
I have to give it to amazing spiderman. I really tried to get into ghost rider but nicalos cage just does not deliver…… well anything, while on the big screen….or the small screen at home. Not to say that spiderman didn’t have problems of it’s own. They were just easier to swallow then cage going crazy while lighting his head on fire.
Spider man.
My comic book moment was when I was reading Chew and Army of Two. That week I had watched CBL and with your advice broke from the big two. At that moment I realized that I didn’t need Capes or Masks to enjoy a comic. I realized that I was evolving not comics. I think that is what we forget. Don’t expect Spiderman/Superman to grow. It has all been done before. You need to move on to the next story. Go to the Big two to see what you remember and miss but look to Indies for what is new. Thanks to CBL that was my moment. Keep it comics.
Chew is so awesome, it was my second indie title after Invincible. Chew hands down is the funniest series I have ever read.
Ok, here I go:
I liked the movie. There. I said it. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good overall. I really liked the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. They were Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy. While Lizard was kinda lame, I did appreciate that they portrayed him as a smart monster. That’s how he was originally was when he first appeared in the comics. I’m glad that they didn’t make him just a monster. I agree with you guys that they needed to flesh out Capt. Stacy more. I wished he could’ve stuck around for a sequel. Martin Sheen really surprised me. His portrayal of Uncle Ben was good.
My favorite scene was when Spider-Man saved the kid from the burning car on the bridge. That was a nice moment and it is what Spider-Man is: a selfless hero. Plus, it was the most heroic thing I’ve seen him do in ages (ASM and USM are not good comics).
The only thing about the score was when there was piano keys being played. That didn’t sit well at all with me and really felt out of place. The story left a few things just dangling (the photographer in Peter, Uncle Ben’s killer not being caught, and the whole Peter’s parents mystery which was abandoned way too quickly). Hopefully these issues will be resolved in a sequel. They better be.
My last major complaint was the post-credits scene. Who thought that was a good scene? It didn’t hype anybody up for a sequel. I wish we could have known who that man was, so I could at least speculate as to what the next movie may be about, but they gave us nothing to speculate about. Still, I thought it was an enjoyable film with a well chosen cast.
Looking forward to the 50th episode!!! (don’t tell me you guys are going to reboot yourselves in hopes of gaining more viewers
I won’t be entering the contest since I already have aCBL t-shirt which I were often with pride (still need to get a picture with me in it). I might share my favorite scene in comics though just for fun and to be part of the community!
‘Were’ should be WEAR.
Very neat review! Unless I’m with someone who just REALLY REALLY wants to see this in the theaters, I probably won’t see it during the initial release. I’ll probably just end up seeing it when it comes to Redbox for a dollar fifty or something.
I think my favourite comic moment (there are actually probably a couple but I’ll just pick one) has to be reading Green Wake. I have been loving indie/image comics for a bit now but this was one of the ones that has resonated with me the most. It had a little special place in my comic experience for a few reasons. At the time it was coming out, both of the creators were living in the same city as me. Because of this it was very cool for me to see Kurtis and Riley often and pick their brain about the series. Unfortunately, they have both since moved away, but what can you do. I would end up picking up doubles of some of the issues because I would miss Riley coming in and signing a bunch. He is great for going into the local shops and just signing all of his books. So that right there is just the experience of kind of getting to know the two creators a bit.
The actual comic itself though… I loved it. I know some people, either on here or in my group of friends, liked it but not as much as I had been enjoying it. I think the reason why I liked it so much was because it was one of the first comics that (wasn’t a hero book… because I would say Invincible would be the first…. ) had the art match the story and tone that was trying to be portrayed. That in and of itself is what comics should be, but I find that while many things are close, very few are spot on. This is the story that I tell people that I think is one of the best that combines the two as best as you can. It just goes to show what people can do with comics nowadays. Anyways I hope that gets my point across and isn’t too much.
But not on to the rest of the show…. Thanks for the review… I will not see this movie (likely not pay to see this movie). I will be very tempted to watch it for free just to see how bad it actually is. A guilty pleasure of mine. Also my turn to point out one of the mistakes haha
. Given I watched this in two different parts so I can’t remember is you said this all the way through but at the end you said that FOX had the rights to Spider-man. SONY has the rights to Spider-man, FOX has the rights to X-men and Fantastic Four. Just to clear that up, but either way it sounds like the movie blew. Funny jabs though.
Anyways…. Keep It Comics!!
did anyone else think that spidey was a bit under powered in this movie? at times during the flick i felt all he had was a jackie chan power level. hehad great moves great agility but the spidey strength was on the low side. also he sure was web happy i think this spidey shot more webs then the raimi spidey in all 3 movies put together. and that with the web shooters i kept thinking he was going to run out web fluid.
I was hoping they would draw from the comics where Spidey would be swinging and all of a sudden he’d run out of web fluid and have to think of a way to save himself from falling to his death. I would always get a kick out of how the writers would get him out of that situation.
Not a huge setback, though. They showed how smart he was in the movie. Maybe they can do something like that in the sequels (if there are any).
@Jon I’m w/ u Jon on twitter being abuzz about Amazing. My best guess as 2 why there’s such positivity about this movie, it’s probably based on what demographic one’s in. Seems 2 me, those growing up in the late eighties, or later, had more good stuff 2 say about this film. Those born in the mid eighties or earlier, had more bad stuff 2 say about it.
Myself, l’m gonna wait til l get a slieghtly worn dvd copy b4 l check it out. What l already know: l don’t like Garfield. The guy playing The Lizard, looks like he’s a stones throw away from creating the all new, all different Human Centipede And finally; Just wondering if Bella’s gonna show up in the sequel.
Good show guys.
Fave comicbook moment: Comics; Off the top of my head, it would either have 2 be an old Lee/Ditko issue of Spiderman, where Spidey, l believe wasn’t facing a villain, but still, a danger. He was pushed past his limits, and it was either survival or drown. This stands out 2 me, because l’m not nostalgic, nor do l particlarly care 4 Ditko’s work, normally, but somehow that issue just seemed special. What that’s tied w/ is a Civil War issue, where Punisher flips his lid, and mows down a few third rate baddies, that offer Cap their services, & Frank being a no shades of gray type guy, isn’t having it.
Fave comicbook moment Animation Batman finding a way around Jonn Jonnz’ mind reading, and Aquaman dismembering his own hand 2 save his son (one of the few times that l will say anything good about Aquaman)
Fave comicbook moment: Film; What Mr. Glass reveals 2 David, in order 4 their destinies 2 come 2 fruition. Also Spidey stopping the out of control train in Spiderman ii.
That Aquaman was so bad ass. I remember when I first saw that and saying “why am I watching this show full of panzies, what telivision needs is a Aquaman show to teach a generation of children everywhere what hardcore means”.
weird spidey bootleg rumor btw i dont believe this for a second
this guy i kind of know from around told me he saw an early cut bootleg of spidey these are the weird highlights he is claiming
uncle ben lives
uncle ben molested peter
and the lizard rapes peter.
we in the local comic shop just shook our heads and dropped out mouths collectively he seemed really convinced he saw such a movie
this movie in way shape or form had to be in 3D. this movie in no way looked demonstratively better then the raimi films in terms of webswinging or action. i didnt see it in imax 3d just 3d
Ok guys and gals we are taping episode 50 tonight, so if you want a chance to win a T-Shirt, you have to tell us your favorite moment in comics by then. Just leave a comment.
