I know I’m usually full of piss and vinegar when it comes to comic book adaptations… But not today. In case you don’t know, I enjoyed the Thomas Jane Punisher film for what it was– even though I liked the plot/action in Ray Stevenson’s insanely violent Punisher War Zone infinity more. But while Stevenson made a “good” Punisher, I would rather Jane reprise the role in any sequel or television series.
Thomas Jane is the kind of actor I find difficult to dislike. Though his roles in Boogie Nights, The Punisher, (the severely underrated) The Mist and HBO’s Hung are what he’s best known for… It was his cameo as one of the Vegan Police in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World that made me a fan. Every second Jane was on-screen, he looked like he was having fun– and his exit from the film was one of its funniest moments. Add the fact that Jane cosplayed as Jonah Hex at SDCC a few years back (in hopes of possibly landing the lead role in the upcoming film) and it’s easy to see his geek side.
And nothing solidifies the Thomas Jane Geek Factor more than the video below.
Thomas Jane has made a fan film… A Punisher fan film. It takes the best parts of the two previous movies– Thomas Jane from the first– and the over the top gore and violence from the second– and condenses everything down to a great 10 minute short. Another thing that makes this fan film great: A cameo by another actor members of the IMJ Nation™ have an affinity for.
I really wouldn’t mind seeing Jane star in another Punisher film– or even a TV show based on the property. My being a fan of his could very well outweigh my strong dislike for Marvel, so much so I may even be willing to pay for the privilege of viewing any such entertainment vehicle.

i liked his punisher movie ok not great but ok i thought his interaction with his neighbors was great. but after this im down for another punisher movie with him. i thought was very well done and holy crap was it rough.
LOVE THIS VIDEO. Thank you, Mr. Jane. I would love for Showtime to pick up a Punisher series, especially since Dexter is pretty much past the point of interest for me.

Been a fan of Mr. Jane since his cameo on Arrested Development. His delivery of the line “I just want my kids back” and Jason Bateman’s deadpan face reaction were perfect.
