Watching the HOW COULD YOU DO THIS KRISTEN?! YouTube Video

We don’t normally cover Celebrity Gossip “news” at Inveterate Media Junkies– mainly because it’s usually amazingly boring claptrap.

But since it was revealed that Kristen Stewart publicly apologized to her Twilight co-star/boyfriend Robert Pattinson over having a short affair/hook-up with a director from another movie… I felt the need to say something when, in a matter of minutes, the news swept over the internets and almost completely supplanted the Aurora Theater Massacre as the #1 Entertainment-related story.

The video above is from YouTube user NuttyMadam3575. She is very upset that Kristen cheated on Robert. As many have noted, the video is filled with contradictory statements… Not the least of which is NuttyMadam making a video detailing the whole sordid mess– then repeatedly admonishing her viewers to “Leave them [Kristen & Robert] alone!”

As one commenter asked, “Is this the British version of “Leave Britney Alone!!”?”

I see this vid as a lot more than that.

Sure, you could write, “Please tell me this girl is putting us on. Surely she doesn’t take this crap so freaking seriously.” like another YouTube viewer did. But if you take the 3+ minutes to watch and you get to the 3:10 mark, you’ll most likely agree that NuttyMadam3575 is very serious. She’s a fan’s fan– obviously touched Stewart and Pattinson found “true love” while working together playing romantically involved characters in a movie series about sparkly vampires and hunky werewolves.

Seriously, who among us hasn’t had a Pure Geek Moment™ where we’ve ranted ad infinitum on a subject so impossibly nerdy that we literally left our friends sitting silently, mouths agape– not knowing whether to laugh at us… Or run? From “Han Shot First” to “Flames on Optimus Prime” there’s a billion nerdly rants in Geek City. And NuttyMadam3575 has 185 videos on YouTube… So she’s no mere Twilight Opportunist. For all express purposes, I feel her dedication to the films makes her a Twilight Professional.

This is also really no different from my rant on the obviously meant-as-a-joke “24 Years of Venom” Logo… And one of the first responses I received from that post was a nasty Tweet making fun of me. By all means, feel free to laugh at the vid. I freely admit to laughing at parts too. But as a True Blue Geek, I just cannot find it in myself to take it to the next level and ridicule her… Especially at that 3:10 mark.

And even though you might think co-running a website like IMJ would have hardened me to this shit, I still find the fact that other Geeks find it so easy to be mean and condescending to other Geeks very, very sad.

Geeks shitting on other geeks seems to have hit the boiling point during the last few months. Especially in the video game industry. It’s sad as hell but it won’t be going away anytime soon. The internet is not going anywhere so things will only continue to get much worse before it ever begins to get better.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go gather up all of my Twilight memorabilia so I can burn it in a bonfire but not before I defecate on all of it first. Fuck you, KStew. You’ve ruined that franchise 4 me 4evr. Y would u do this 2 me!?!

I agree Jose. I never understood the “I’m a cooler nerd than you” argument. We’re all in the same geek boat here, and we should be more inclusive of other people because most of us know what it’s like to have someone looking down on our hobbies.

When I grew up reading comics I never really saw it as a very inclusive hobby. I always felt I was very lucky to find the few friends I had who also just happened to read comics. With no internet back then it was difficult to find people who were into them. I was fine with the feeling of isolation. That’s just how it was for me. But I never would have turned away anyone who wanted to talk comics, especially not back then.

I can see were some “geeks” have a problem with the current trend of their hobbies that were once shunned are now becoming cool. Many of them may think that it’s time for a little bit of payback. To put down or criticize people now that they have the chance. It is very unfortunate that, as in the comic industry, the video game industry is taking a lot of this out on women. It’s bad enough that fanboys need to share their hobby with dudes who don’t have the same taste and mentality as them, but women? That’s too much for them to handle for whatever reason. I believe that comes from fear and ignorance. It’s “their” hobby and there is no way they will let it be co-opted by anyone else. They are afraid of the industries evolving because right now they are at the top of it, in their minds.

Ya, I am really talking out of my ass at this point but this is really how I feel sometimes. The actions of a few pretty much ruin everything for everyone else.

this story was ny daily news’s front page this morning i couldnt believe their number 2 story was the jackson’s family fued over micheal jackson’s will. they should change their name to the star or enquirer.
on top of putting it on the front page they called her a trampire i thought that was really in bad taste. and she issued a public apology? why? she doesn’t owe anyone but this paterson guy anything. its really freaky

i kind of get shippers even the non canon ones but the real life shippers, ppl that ship real people with other real people, scare me ! for a look into some crazy look up achele on the web or youtubz.

I’m pretty sure the whole relationship thing between KStew and Pattington Bear is all publicity for their shit movies. I don’t believe for a second that it is real.

The fact that people think those two are good looking and attractive is enough to perplex me.

My favorite quote, ever, about Stewart was from Celebslam a couple of days ago.

They said she “…seems like she won a contest to be famous”.
