To be fair, I listed last week’s issue as #50 when it was #51.

    Enjoy! :D

Skyler had to work it butt off to get this one out, he ended up taking the opening from an old video and forgot to update the number, sorry guys and girls. But I do want to officially thank Skyler for just getting this video out. Even though we like to keep the show thrown together, and give it that home made feel, it’s quite a bit of work for each of us to do on a weekly basis. So sorry again, but what can I say, Shit Happens.

Thanks for watching all, hopefully we are on time next week. And hopefully you like the show.

To be perfectly clear, my comment about the old title card was not meant as a jab or criticism toward anyone. Jose and I knew well the severe production problems the guys were experiencing this week.

Believe me, I know “shit happens”. I deal with it on a daily basis with Inveterate Media Junkies.

I just wanted to make sure no one thought this show was a repeat– hence the comment. Next time, I’ll just keep my fingers off the keyboard and let everybody else figure it out. ;)

You are the best Ian, you and Jose have been so good to A Comic Book Look, You have given us more support than we ever deserved, and put up with all our delays. Thank you for putting the comment up.

        • Insideman says:

You know we love all you guys, Tom.

I just wanted to make sure people understood I wasn’t carping about you, Jon or Skyler (or the video itself) when I published the statement below the vid. You all put in a huge amount of work on these weekly vids… And you’re right– they are far from easy to make.

Both Jose, me– and the rest of the vast IMJ Nation™– appreciate all the hard work of all involved.

          • tomstewdevine says:

            Thanks Ian.

Good review, it’s nice to see this segment again. It’s funny, you talked about Tom strong last time. I picked up a trade the next day. It was actually pretty good. I might have to check out Promethea.

Actually yeah, I meant to say in my comment below, good show! I could do that with my collection but I have most of my comics from before a couple of years ago in airtight plastic boxes.

Theres no comic shop in town to do this in but it might be interesting to do it in the 2nd hand record store, odds are at least one copy of Abba gold or a Madonna album would be pulled.

Did Tom call Devin Grayson a he? Anyway, I remember getting Gotham Knights and not hating them at the time, but I was going through a Batman phase at the time. The Shawn Martinbrough drawn Detective Comics at that time were fantastic though, I think Greg Rucka might have been writing them at the time.

I never bought Nightstalkers and I’m glad of that fact, Marvel was going through a really bad phase at the time, the Midnight Sons books were generally regarded as being awful, that was released around 93/94 right? The Marvel UK titles that came out about the same time were fucking godawful as well, MUK used to be a good company until Marvel corporate pushed them to put out more original titles and they started using writers and artists that just weren’t ready for full time titles yet. That absolutely killed Marvel UK stone dead and the corpse was sold on to european publisher Panini when Marvel went bankrupt.

Good Show! Nice to see Longbox Confidential back. Too bad you didn’t get one good book though Tom. And Jon getting a Venom comic and also giving it a poor rating. Never thought I’d see the day :P .

Doing stuff like this is actually really fun for me as well. My buddy gave me some older comics a little while ago and reading them in no particular order (weren’t to many that were the same anyways) was really fun, just to see the difference in styles. Luckily I had a few good issues to read.

As usual, keep up the good work! And hopefully we wont have to wait another 37 issues for another one… ;)

Your right man, it’s really fun just diving into your older books and just reading random, out of order comics…..unfortunately I got stinkers this time.

Another cool show! The only thing missing from the intro was a dame with gams that just wont quit and a bottle of whiskey in a desk drawer. Then again you guys always have beer so that’s just as good.

Yeah, I’m not 100% on the demonic hierarchy in the Marvel universe. I vaguely remember an issue of West Coast Avengers guest starring Son of Satan and Hellcat, were one of the team actually brings up the question you guys did. Their like, “There’s Mephisto, and Satannish, and Dormammu, etc…can all these different guys be the devil?” And Son of Satan responses with the bible quote… “What is thy name?” and he answered, saying, “My name is Legion: for we are many.” Basically implying that they all are different aspects of the same thing. I don’t know what the status quo is now.

Also, I totally agree with Tom. Promethea is tough read, but I’m totally a fan.

    Anyway, great show!

  6. Great show guys! It’s been a while since read my Doctor Strange books, I don’t even remember if I had that comic. But I know what you mean about the dialogue balloons. Some writers can do it because they write the dialogue like a play. But there are some issues or writer, even today *cough*Lemire*cough* that just write all this dialogue and you think to yourself, “Did i need to know that? Can’t they say this in a faster way? Is this guy really Kevin Smith using a pseudonym?”

It’s also been a while since read through the Midnight Sons era of the occult Marvel books. I do remember enjoying them as a kid. I Got fixated with the Dan Ketch Ghost Rider and the rest came along for the ride.

I think, once this semester is over, I’ll have to something similar to my collection of 7000+ comics, I know there is some great crap in there, both gifted to me and out of my own choice, lol.

Enjoyed your segment Tom with the old adds. Finding an old VHS tape and seeing the commercials has always been a treat to me. Please add more. Jon good to see your swag segment.
