  1. Another great show, guys!

I did want to add that everyone should check out the Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut. The problem that two had was that Richard Donner filmed Superman 1 and 2 together and the storyline was very connected. But there was many issues that arose after the success of the first one (Like Marlon Brando demanding 11% of the gross profit of the movie for payment) that lead to scenes being excised, which led to Donner not getting along with the producers and ultimately replacing him. This is version is what Donner had planned Superman 2 to be and it is a great movie. Check it out.

I’m glad you are enjoying Darth Maul, Jon. I couldn’t get into it after the first issue. I wasn’t a fan of him in the Clone wars cartoon and it was too similar for me.

Another thing that I think is great about comics is the cons. They are everywhere, all the time, so you can get expose to all levels of comics no mater where you live.

    • Oh, I also want to mention that when it comes to DC comics on Comixology, the first issues are .99, then all the issues up to the most recent 4 are 1.99, and the rest are cover price. I was just checking the other day to see what the cost would be to catch up on the Earth 2 lines.

    • Jon (of aCBL) says:

Darth Maul is awesome – that is one book I look forward to each month. Wish it wasn’t a mini-series…. :( :( :( – all the Star Wars titles have been pretty sweet though.

As always great show! Though what about IMJ and the Nation being whats good in comics? :P I think that we deserve our own heading instead of being thrown into community. ;)

All jokes aside, being that this is the what is good in comics episode I’m curious to hear a couple more things from you guys/The Nation. I found that comics have just not been that exciting lately. I’m starting to get back into the swing of things and actually getting excited for books to come out. But what are your top (lets say 3?) books that you guys currently buy/can’t wait to read? Those books that once you finish it you just dread the fact that you have to wait another 30 days to read the next issue? Maybe I am just not reading the right books, but I don’t have that many books like that anymore. Whereas before I had a good handful. Those types of books are what is good in comics.

I don’t know if it is just me and my unfortunate reading selection, but I find that there are fewer and fewer of these books out there right now.

Fury Max, Manhattan Projects, Saga, The Cape. (it’s a sad day, I usually always say Scalped to this question)

    • I know the feeling Nick. I’m having the same feeling with my comics too. DC has completely destroyed the characters I like yet, which is why I’m still with them, but it’s also why I have hard time trying Marvel again, even though I long to all things X-Men.

I’m not sure I have only three because the ones I’m excited for are all even for various reasons. But look forward to Saga, Smallville, Hellraiser, Transformers Regeneration One, Punk Rock Jesus, Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison (but that might be ending this month, but check it out if you can get the back issues)

A lot I’m reading that aren’t DC are slow burns and just started, so hopefully they pick up a bit to get me excited.

Also, I’m slowly becoming a fan of Boom! comics. It’s hard because they are $3.99 comics and it puts pressure on the wallet, but I’ve yet to regret the purchase of one of their comics.

      • NicktheStick says:

Yeah I pick up a few of the books mentioned (saga, Fury Max). There are still a few that I get excited for. Thanks to Jose for reccomending Angel and Faith as I bought it on a whim, but just read them all in the last two days. I still get excited for invincible. But with all this, while I still enjoy these books immensely, I’m still missing that one book that makes me go to the comic shop. I didn’t go for about 4 weeks because there wasn’t something I just had to get.

Though now that I am almost caught up in all my comics I do want to go dabble in my LCS when I get paid to see if I can pick up something new. I’m excited for the search now. Hopefully I’ll be able to find some of the books mentioned and have my comic faith restored a little bit more.

    Another fun show, gentlemen!

Good show. I just want to give props to you guys for doing an episode about the positives. As much as I’m into this stuff I’ve sometimes shyed away from the fandom side of things partly because it often seemed so negative. Of course I guess the negativity is coming next week hahaha. Later

    • tomstewdevine says:

Dude, thank you for watching and commenting, And I would definitely say we are positive on the whole, we love comics so much that we can’t spend all our time being negative or it wouldn’t be any fun to watch.
