X-Factor is still a pretty awesome book. It is one of two Marvel titles that I still get.

And now time for mini rants (mini because one thing just leads into another and I have to get going on that):

It is likely that you guys don`t want to name names, but what about some of the shitty people working in the comic industry. You don`t have to go far to see a creator do something to fans that they should not do. Or even editorial mandating things that cause problems with fans or even the creators.

This kind of ties into events but… Just the way that comics have been gimmicky as of late. Superman and Wonder Woman is a good example. The fact that stories are not allowed to happen organically. It must always be building to something. It must always be some newer, bigger and better. Or the fact that this line is way over used `Nothing will ever be the same again“ or “Someone will die.“

Marvel NOW! has Bendis taken off of all Avengers (team) book, to go work on a bunch of X-Men (team) books. This is a perfect example of what you said Tom in nothing really changes.

Just an idea (that would not likely work); If Bendis is such a good writer, why not have him try to come up with some new characters to introduce into the universe? Shouldn’t those loyal Bendis people follow him? Then you could bring new creators in to work on Avengers to actually get new ideas? But this wont work because many fans do not care about the writer just the characters. Again mentioning how people do not vote properly with their wallets. Some of the fans themselves are to blame for comics as well. I know if took me a bit to get over the idea of not buying a book. But once you do, it isn’t like you have to stay away forever. Check in when mew creators come on the book. Give it tries at various stages to see if interest gets picked up.

Oh! One big thing that you guys didn’t talk about was DECOMPRESSED STORIES! ‘Nuff said.

Alright I’m done with my over the map mini rants. But unfortunately there are more things that bug me about the industry, as opposed to last week with the goods things.

But as always good show! Keep it up, and keep it comics!

This is another thing that is wrong with the comic industry. Death for gimmick’s sake!

  3. Sergeant says:

Like the first camera, gave it a east coast beasty boy feel. Show seemed fun but no one went on a crazy rant, the kind that makes your eyes bloodshot. Is there one writer/artist/company that you would protest or disown a family member over? I was hoping to see someone really hate on something tear an old issue up. Great sound on music and liked the new music.

    • tomstewdevine says:

Ya, we never pre-plan what we are going talk about, or even think about it much, so that’s why our shows are the way they are. And it’s just comics, not something I’m going to raise my blood pressure over. So you will rarely see us get worked up.

And I talked about it before, and I don’t like to talk about the same things all the time, but the worst person working in the industry is Stephen “wack-ass” Wacker.

  4. Sergeant says:

Just saw they are revamping the tbolts…….rants anyone? I hope for a fresh and strong restart. I am trying to be positive.

    • ed2962 says:

I don’t have a rant per se…I saw the line-up and thought that this is something the accounting dept put together. In my opinion some of those characters have no business being on a team with each other. I don’t have strong feeling one way of another about Daniel Way as a writer. I like Steve Dillon as an artist.

    • tomstewdevine says:

Haven’t looked at that yet, since I have been in bed for the last 3 days with strep and it sucks. But It doesn’t sound promising, and I will drop it, if Parker isn’t writing it. On another note I still feel like shit and won’t be going to work again today, Thank god for Paid time off.

  5. ed2962 says:

Neat show! I thought Skyler brought up an excellent point about needless/endless tie-ins. You can’t just buy one comic, you have to buy a handfull of spin offs just to understand the story!

    • tomstewdevine says:

I agree, tie ins are bullshit. and this ties in to decompressed storytelling, If they just got to the point there wouldn’t be a need for 10 tie in books to complete the story.

  6. J. says:

What’s wrong with comics? Marvel, DC, their shit fanboys, Mark Millar, Brian Bendis, Geoff Johns, Joe Quesada, TB, Dan Didio, Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Steve Wacker, Bob Harris, rampant sexism, grim n’ grittiness, hack comic “news” sites, comic reviewers that want to oh so badly blow comic creators, the majority of American comic readers and ignorant cunty retailers. I could go on but I’m too tired and drunk to do so.

  7. I think there is even a lack of creativity in naming some of the titles of books.. “Uncanny Avengers” Really?! You couldn’t think of a more original adjective to tack onto an Avengers book, Marvel??? Good show though! Nice sound effects. Those birds sounded real ;)
