Is this the worst new comic release week of the year? Actually, that was a rhetorical question because the answer is indubitably “YES!”. Yes, this is the worst new comic shipping week of the year. Why? Well, let’s get right to it.
Here’s what I’m buying this week:
NOT A GODDAMN THING!
Y do u suck so hard American comic industry!?
Blerg… Not even some good manga to fall back on. I really don’t know when the last time me buying nothing happened. It could have happened earlier this year but I’m not quite sure because a) All the alcohol I ingest every day is oddly making me forget stuff and z) I’m too damn lazy to look through the crazy amounts of Who’s Getting What This Week columns I have posted over the years. This means that I will have to pick books that I don’t normally read for my IMJ Capsule Reviews which I am not very pleased about. It could make for some entertaining reviews but on the other hand it may cause me excruciating pain. My life is filled with nothing but first world problems. Ya feel me?
So, what are you getting this week… If anything?

Animal Man
Swamp Thing
Avengers Academy
Ehh..I think I will skip my trip to the LCS
that Makayla maroney picture never gets old.
And you’re not buying AVX #6? For shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.
Actually looking down the list there’s not much when it comes to floppies, I gave up on Animal with #11 , enough already with the rot.
I bought Epic Kill #1 a few months ago and thought it was pretty good, the first trade should be in next months shipment for me. Ditto for Shakara the Destroyer which was fucking great in 2000AD earlier in the year, might not be for you if you don’t like sci-fi or insane carnage though.
Detective Comics #13 (Not going to give Layman’s Batman a try Jose?)
Guarding the Globe #2 (Still just giving this a chance – I liked the last mini, so I’ll see how the ongoing goes for a bit)
I will be reviewing Detective this week but I already buy too many comics as it is. If it blows me away maybe I’ll add it to my club.
Fairest #8
Sweet Tooth #38
Thief of Thieves #9
Boys #71
Wow, no kidding a really small week. I also am reviewing other books than I don’t normally read, at least it should make for some interesting reviews.
Action Comics #13
Detective Comics #13
Earth 2 #5
Fairest #8
Green Lantern #13
Worlds’ Finest #5
Everybody Loves Tank Girl #3
Hack/Slash #18
Red Sonja #69
Fatale #8
Thief of Thieves #9
I usually only get two or three comics a week so I am happy.
Whether you buy 2 books or 20… That’s exactly what comics are all about! Having some fun, being happy.
Welcome to IMJ, Kirbilot!
Detective Comics #13 I’ll give this issue a whirl to determine whether I’ll buy the collection or not. At this point anything is an improvement over the previous fuckknuckle. Other than that, Fatale #8.
Comics, Wow! it’s been awhile, but with everything finally settling down for me I definitely have the itch to get back into the comic thing again. But questions remain…
Is there any comic stores left open in my area? The last time I drove to a comic store it was boarded up! Boy did I look silly! I know, they make these funny hand held devices now that you can use to communicate over great distances to prevent embarrassing substitutions like this, but I am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to technology.
If I do find a store what the Hell do I get? Things have changed quite a bit in the past year from what I can see.
Not sure what is going on with DC comics these days, a year ago they started everything over with number one issues, now I was doing a be of looking around I see a bunch if issue #0′s out there, is this a do over on the do over? Or a better question is, what happened to OMAC? I loved that big blue, mo-hawked bastard!
Marvel comics? Avengers? X-men? Well, at least they know how to play to their base, like Funnel Cakes and deep fried Twinkies at a state fair. But I am looking for something a little different these days sooo..
Spaceknights? As in Rom the Spaceknight? One of my fav comics as a kid. This bears further investigation. Looking at the cover it appears to be more Robotech, then the Spaceknights I remember, but it does look like it was written by Jim Starlin, that’s a good thing right? What the heck, ill get it just to see if Rom shows up in all of his red, beady eye glory.
Independent comics? Non-humans #1 Is there anything better than creepy, evil dolls this close to Halloween? I think not.
So after all of that online blabbering, I come up with two comics? Well, it’s a start
Animal Man is the only comic I’m getting this week.
I saw a preview of this issue, and I was very glad when I found out that Steel makes a guest star appearance in it. He’s an awesome character, and his solo series was one of the brightest gems that 90s gave us. Luckily he didn’t fall into oblivion after the end of that series: he gained a little spot in the New 52 world, as a supporting character in Action Comics and now in Animal Man. A character like Steel written by a writer like Lemire… wonderful!
