If anybody’s wondering… That stack beside the book stack has 4 scripts I was supposed to read 3 weeks ago. Yowtch!

That Eerie Archive is looking pretty tempting, I’ll have to check on the price.

That arrived in the post for me this week, theres some great stuff in it.

All the old Warren Archives are the best. They were what they were… And they never tried to be anything else.

Most of these (especially all of Archie Goodwin’s work) are a master class in writing good, solid comic book tales. I have them all lined up in a bookshelf I’m looking at while I type this. It’s a very nice collection to own. Dark Horse did a nice job with these… Although I definitely would have appreciated a lower price point… Even if some retailers, like InStock Trades, have them priced at 42% off.

Amazon has them all too (just looked) and I am amazed. I would’ve thought some of the earlier editions would be long sold out. Dark Horse must have printed a healthy run on each– which is smart… As I am sure these handsome volumes will be perennial best sellers.

Dynamite’s Vampirella Archives are great too… Although I can’t imagine publishing them alongside the lackluster new crap they are also making. It’s like begging people (especially younger fans) to make a deadly comparison.

I believe some of the early Creepy and Eerie volumes have gone into second printings.

Dynamites Vampirella archives are nice chunky volumes, you really feel like your getting value for money. The art on the new Vampirella stories is not a patch on the old Vamp artists like Jose Gonzalez and Esteban Maroto.

I am a First Print fanatic (unless something is just so far into numerous print runs there’s no way to get or sanely afford one). These books aren’t leaving my personal collection until I die, so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Dark Horse is smart to keep the different volumes in print. I can’t stand (or understand) when companies don’t keep all volumes of a popular series in print.

I just noticed that “The Culling: Rise of the Ravagers” trade is in the stack. I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but if you go on dccomics.com and browse the graphic novels by month, The Culling isn’t referenced anywhere. That’s the reason I didn’t even know this book was collected.

I know it’s just a detail, but I think it’s a terrible mistake to forget to clearly put out which books you sell and when…

    • Insideman says:

I have no idea what the series is even about, Helmir!

That’s the good thing about The Weekly Stack™– it hits people on all kinds of different levels… And helps some fans prove to their retailers that a book did, in fact, see release.

You’re also right about your DC criticism. They truly don’t release that many trades every month (not like Marvel)– so there’s no excuse for this book not to be listed on their release lists.

Maybe the guy/woman writing up those lists had never heard of it either! :D
