Alex + Ada #2, Invincible #107, Lazarus #5 + Shaolin Cowboy #3
This is looking like a pretty incredible week as far as comics go. Every book I’m picking up on Wednesday could easily place on my list of the best titles of the year.
I reviewed Alex + Ada #1 last month and was very impressed with Jonathan Luna’s new series. I’m glad the second issue is shipping on time– because you never know with Image books. If this comic is anywhere near as great as the first, I will be pleased.
It seems like forever since the last issue of Invincible came out. So much so that I can’t really remember what happened. I guess I’ll reread the issue before the release of #107 tomorrow. Hope this title is closer to a monthly next year than it has been in 2013. But, you know, Ryan Ottley’s art on the book is always worth the wait so there is no use complaining anymore about the lateness.
Greg Rucka and Michael Lark’s Lazarus is back from a brief hiatus after the end of the initial story arc– and it’s about time. If you have not had a chance to check out this comic do yourself a favor and buy the first trade (which collects issues 1 through 4) and then pick up Issue 5 while you’re at it. If you don’t end up liking it after you read it, well, what can I say? You may not have that good of taste.;)
And Geof Darrow’s Shaolin Cowboy? If you are not buying it by now you must really hate comics. ‘Nuff said.
